Tyler Stevens Bad Luck Continues with Sabine Crash

Tyler Stevens made the last-minute decision to travel south to Sabine Speedway (Many, La.) for the weekend’s Fall Southern Showdown. Unfortunately, his late-season bad luck followed him down there.

Pulling double duty between the Limited Modified and Crate Late Model division, the weekend in Limited Modified competition opened on Friday night. With 56 entries on hand, Tyler raced to a runner-up finish in his heat race, which locked him into the seventh-starting spot for the feature. He would slide back to a 11th-place finish in Saturday’s finale.

In Crate Late Model competition Tyler’s outing on Saturday got off to a tumultuous start, when a car spun in front of him in hot laps resulting in a bent shock, busted radiator and other damage.

The team made repairs and Stevens earned the ninth-starting position for the $2,000-to-win feature. Bad luck bit him on the start though when a car bounced off the fence coming down the track, collected him. The accident did heavy damage to his No. 2 bringing his night to an early end.

The event marked the final of the 2021 season for TLP Motorsports. They’re looking ahead to a better 2022 campaign.
