Tyler Stevens Makes Eldora Debut
Thursday afternoon found a last-minute trip come to fruition as Tyler Stevens embarked on his first-ever venture to the famed high banks of Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio).
Mother Nature intervention on Wednesday condensed the second running of the Eldora Million to a single day on Thursday.
With 124 entries on hand for the mega event, prelim action on Thursday morning found the field split into twin $12,000-to-win programs. Stevens qualified 34th fastest in his group, which pinned him ninth on the starting grid for his heat race. He would advance to as high as the seventh position in the 12-lap affair before sliding back to a 12th-place finish, which sent him to a B-Main.
In the B-Main he passed three cars to finish 11th but with only the Top-2 finishers moving off to the feature his afternoon came to an end.
Via his afternoon performance, Tyler started 15th in his heat race for the finale. Unfortunately he battled the handle to a 19th-place finish as his Eldora Million drew to an early end.
Action continued on Friday as Stevens entered his first-career Dirt Late Model Dream. Preliminary action for the 28th edition of the crown jewel found 116 entries on hand, and after qualifying 44th fastest in his group, Tyler improved three spots in his heat race to finish eighth.
He started sixth in the b-main, but slid back to an 18th-place finish. With him pinned deep in the starting grid for a Saturday heat race, and a poor forecast on the horizon the team decided to head home early and forgo Saturday's program.
