Stevens takes pair of top-five finishes in MLRA Battle at the Beach
Tyler Stevens of Searcy, Arkansas, turned in a successful weekend at Eldon, Missouri’s Lake Ozark Speedway during the track’s third annual Lucas Oil Midwest Racing Association (MLRA) Battle at the Beach, with the driver charging into the top-five from deep in the field each night.
The MLRA doubleheader at the 1/3-mile oval kicked off on Friday evening with 34 Dirt Late Models in the pits. Stevens drove his Stallion Transportation Group No. 2 to a third-place result in his heat race, slotting him in 12th on the grid for the 30-lap, $5,000-to-win A-Main.
Stevens steadily moved forward over the race’s 30 circuits and turned in a third-place finish to put him on the podium for the first time this season. He followed Chris Simpson and Chad Simpson under the checkered flag, with Daniel Hilsabeck and Logan Martin rounding out the top-five.
On Saturday, 36 cars attempted to make the A-Main and score a $7,000 winner’s payday. Stevens finished fourth in his heat, starting him in the 14th spot for the weekend’s feature event. In the 40-lapper Stevens picked up 10 positions to come home fourth behind Chad Simpson, Chris Simpson and Garrett Alberson. Jake Timm finished fifth.
With the strong results, Stevens was named Sunoco Rookie of the Race each night and claimed the MD3 Hard Charger award on Saturday.
